The CEO of Nintendo Japan, Satoru Iwata, recently sat down with key members of the development team behind upcoming title Kirby's Yarn to discuss the title.Attending the most recent in an ongoing series where Iwata talks with developers working on upcoming Nintendo titles were producer Etsunobu Ebisu, director Kentaro Sei and planning director Atsushi Kouno from developer Good Feel as well as producer Nobukatsu Matsumiya and coordinator Emi Watanabe of Nintendo. Good Feel has previously worked with Nintendo on
Wario Land Shake and
Atta Koreda.
In the discussion it was revealed that Kirby was not going to be in the game and that an original character going by the name of Fluff could have been the main character with the game carrying the title of "World of Yarn" instead.
The column also talks of how the staff at Good Feel came up with the concept for the game and how to come up with ideas they bought various cloth items and touched real yarn to truly get a feel for how they could incorporate this into the game.
Feel Good spent three months working on a prototype of the title once formal development began on its working title. Although the game was coming to fruition, the team still felt that something was lacking from
World of Yarn and was around this time in Summer 2009 that Nintendo proposed that the team turn the game into a Kirby title.
Looking forward to the latest Kirby game from Good Feel and Nintendo? And would you like to have seen how
World of Yarn would have turned out if it still had its original character? Post any thoughts in the comments below.
