Hacking Sony right off.

PS3 Trophy Hacking Application in Development
A hacker has been able to delve right into the PlayStation 3's architecture and discovered a way of unlocking any and all of a game's Trophies without even playing it.

The video below shows a proof of concept for a homebrew software application that allows users to select Trophies at will. Its development was made possible after a recent PS3 exploit was made public by the sale of various USB devices.

Sony is currently battling such developers - and retailers of the 'jailbreak' peripherals - in court, and is attempting to block any hacking advances with regular firmware updates. But is Trophy hacking something that can be stopped?

But is Trophy hacking something that there is any point in doing?

Indeed. It does seem a little pointless.

I hate trophy's, they have no relevance unlike achievements.

Yay so all your friends ( and random people you have added) can realise you are a much bigger nerd than they thought. "Oh you have all the trophies? Shame about the friends" There are no positives to this at all in my opinion. Unless you want to be considered a nerd then WOW mission accomplished!

@haritori Why do you say that? These days trophies and achievements are set at the same places or events in both versions of a game. This means that the are both equally relevant.

Or do you mean that trophies don't up a gamescore figure whereas achievements do?

Being sarcastic really, although I do feel achievements add value to game where as Trophy's don't seem to, in my opinion. don't know why but I feel satisfaction for achievement scoring where as on the PS3 I don't care less one way or the other. I suppose, I play most of my games on XBOX so most achievements are scored from the games I really want to play mostly FPS or Adventure Games, so my PS3 trophy score is pitiful in comparison.

Wouldn't this be used to unlock certain parts of a game that you have trouble completing? I.e. if you get the trophy for completing a game on "hard" level, the game unlocks...uhm...other stuff?

I would be interested in this just to remove some games from my trophy list, its annoying when a friend brings a game round to your place that you don't have and then that game with "0%" trophies shows up on your list until the end of time.
