PS3 Firmware 3.50 - 3D Blu-ray Support Added
Waiting for 3D Blu-ray support on your PlayStation 3? Sony announced at the Tokyo Game Show that the functionality will be included in the console's next system software update (v3.50), on the 21st September.

This fulfils Sony's promise to try and get PS3 users to adopt the stereoscopic technology - PlayStation 3s have had the ability to play stereoscopic 3D games since April, with the system software v3.30 rollout.

SCEA Network Operations VP Eric Lempel said that "many consumers" have already purchased a 3DTV or plan to do so in the coming holidays, so clearly there's potential for a steady uptake from the offset.

Lempel added, quite mysteriously, that "while support for Blu-ray 3D discs is the primary new feature within the 3.50 update, there will be a few additional features. We’ll post more details prior to the firmware’s release."

Cross-game chat..? No? Well, we can all dream.
