Only a minor security fix though

PS3 Firmware Update Kills USB Piracy Gadgets
Sony has released firmware update 3.42. No it still doesn't have cross-game chat. Yes it does apparently have a way to kill the use of "all variants of the USB-hub emulating exploit (PSFreedom, PSGroove, PSJailbreak)", back up - or piracy - devices.

Sony itself hasn't stated that. In fact, John Koller, the company's Director of Hardware Marketing told the US PS3 blog that, "A minor update to your PS3 system is now available via system software update v3.42 that includes additional security features."

It was down to the Exophase site to delve into the update and post the update regarding crippling of back-up devices.

We all knew it wouldn't last long, I bet if every game got a demo the number of pirates would drop.

don't worry lads we now have level 2 memory access where the firmware is held so custom firmwares on bound to be on there way soon. Cheers Sony for loads of free games.
