Analyst: Microsoft has $99 Kinect Option for 2011
An analyst from the company Lazard Capital, Colin Sebastian, claims that the Microsoft Kinect could sell four million units over the Christmas period.

Having previously estimated that the device would shift approximately three million units in the period of good cheer, after recent reevaluation that estimate has been changed to four million units.

He also went on to express his opinions on the price points for the XBox 360 Kinect bundle and a suggested RRP for Kinect:

"We believe the better value is the Xbox 360 bundle for $299. We continue to believe that $99 would be a 'sweet spot' for Kinect, and production quantities suggest that Microsoft may be leaving open the possibility for price promotions on Kinect next year."

This was in contrast to Mr. Sebastian's opinion regarding the upcoming Playstation MOVE where he claimed that:

"We note that Sony's Move launches in North America on September 19th, and although without as much 'buzz' as Kinect, Move should provide an early indication as to consumer demand for the next generation of motion controllers,"

Do you think Kinect will shift four million units or more over the Christmas period? Do you think Sony's MOVE will give Kinect a run for its money? And what about the price point? Show us what you think by speaking your mind below.

no chance Playstation Move is great Kinect is a waste of money.

It has all been done before with the Eyetoy, so we are not experiencing nothing new.

Playstation Move is worth every penny and is less than half the price of Kinect.

Alex, you are completely wrong, we here at Microsoft know that unlike Playstation Move we don't "steal" ideas.

Kinect is far superior to Playstation's Eye Toy as the interactivity is 1000% better.

Ok it may not be as good as Playstation Move, but the fact still remains we don't steal ideas, so that makes our idea orginal.

Classic Microsoft lieing like their is no tomorrow, Playstation Move is original it looks nothing like the Wii remote.

I here by as a member of Sony discontinue our Computer contract with you, I don't want our operating systems with a shallow company such as yours, Apple will be a better O.S for us.

Come on its not who invented the tech but who implements and markets it best. You think Nintendo invented the wand controller, no they got the idea from that Punch Out (or what that boxing dreamcast game was called) developer what Aclaim.

Personally I am happy to see both methods of control but think they are both doomed to fail.
