343 Industries' creative director, Frank O'Connor, has suggested that Master Chief will return, after saying that the studio would be "assholes" for not continuing the faceless hero's story after the events of Halo 3.The comment was made during the Halo Universe Panel at the San Diego Comic Con, where
it was said that "You haven't seen the last of Master Chief." Specifically, O'Connor addressed the audience and highlighted the potential for a new story in the Halo franchise starring Master Chief.
"At the end of
Halo 3, and cover your ears if you haven't played it, Master Chief is in cryosleep. Cortana has sent a rescue signal, and they are orbiting a strange world," O'Connor explained. "We'd have to be the world's biggest assholes to not follow through on his story."
Any continuation in Master Chief's adventure will have to be picked up by 343 Industries, as Bungie completes its final entry in the franchise with
Halo: Reach, due to be released on 14th September.
