Sony has announced a partnership with independent games label, Codename, to introduce new games to the PlayStation 3's social portal, Home.
Four different games from various indie developers are planned, with the aim being to spice up the PlayStation Home experience by taking advantage of the virtual spaces around the avatars. For example, Duelling Gentlemen by studio Odd Gentleman sees players engage in strategic battle, using the Home's Plaza arena as a main stage.
Minor Battle, by Peanut Gallery, is a game where two teams run around a cube of four screens to beat each other in a platformer. Winning involves a capture-the-flag style mode of play. Super Awesome Mountain RPG is another title, created by Codename, sees players climb a mountain in the Home Central Plaza using an animated figurine.
Finally, Cogs in 3D Multiplayer is an update to an already-existing Steampunk-inspired title by Lazy8 - a puzzle game that will also dynamically use the Central Plaza space.
"We're thrilled to be partnering with PlayStation Home to create and develop games that step outside the parameters of traditional game development and we're really looking forward to the creative opportunities that lie ahead," said Founding Codename Partner Jesse Vigil.
"Our model of pulling together teams of developers and allowing them to make their creative dreams a reality has only one main tenet — any game created for PlayStation Home is graphically and visually entertaining to both play and watch, at the same time."
Expect to see these games pop up in the Home experience very soon.
