Microsoft has found itself doing some serious up-hill pedalling/peddling on behalf of Kinect since E3 where it was met with an overall sense of pained bewilderment. This justifying of the full-body control system continues with two gems relating to lag and sitting down.Let's start with lag. Basically, says MGS' general manager Kudo Tsunoda to
Edge, you shouldn't be so damned specific.
"...the way we measure 'lag' is by putting people in front of the experience and measuring their thoughts."
What the?
"Either it feels good or it feels sloppy. It's not how many milliseconds, it's: 'Does it feel good? Does it react fast? Does it feel as if you're in control?'
"We were down here last E3 and we bought a racing game for that reason. At high speed, if there's any lag, the controls will feel bad. Kinect Joy Ride feels really tight - you feel like you're in control and the game's doing what you want, and that's the important stuff."
So, that's it for lag then. You're put in front of an experience and your thoughts are read.
Next, can you use Kinect sitting down?
"Kinect can be used while sitting when an experience is developed with sitting in mind", so said a Microsoft rep to
Joystiq.
