PlayStation 3 consoles have now been graced with firmware version 3.40, bringing with it the ability to sign up for Sony's paid subscription service, PlayStation Plus.
Along with the pay-for feature, which offers users a lease on multiple PSN games and minis a month along with discounts on the PlayStation Store, Sony has added a few more bells and whistles besides. Chief of these is a new Video Editor & Uploader application that now sits in the XMB. You can use this to modify and submit recorded videos to Youtube and Facebook.
Other new features include a five-star rating capability in the PlayStation Store, social networking additions to the Photo Gallery and additional power save settings. But still no cross-game voice chat.
PSP owners will get their fair share of PlayStation Plus goodness too with firmware 6.30, along with the ability to organise their games into folders. 'PCEngine' and 'NEOGEO' folders can be found in this manner - re-released games for these platforms have already been available in Japan's PlayStation Store for some time.
