Wait and see approach isn't entirely obvious, much.

Microsoft: Kinect Pricing to Be Announced Closer To November
Microsoft's Chris Lewis has revealed that Europe will be seeing Kinect launch in the same window as the US - November 2010 - but has declined to comment on the price of the motion-sensing device, saying that such information will be revealed closer to the peripheral's launch.

"We’re not saying exactly when [Kinect's price will be revealed], but be very comforted that it will be a great value. We know that’s important. It has to be," Lewis told VG247. "So, we haven’t said yet when we’ll come out with a price point but it will be in a timely way, for retail to have a plan for the consumers to be able to plan the expenditure."

Rumours of Kinect's price point - sparked by product page updates on multiple e-retailers ahead of E3 - suggested that the device will set gamers back between $149.99 - $189.99 USD, which is a hefty investment for those already with an Xbox 360. GameStop has recently added a pre-order price for $149.99 USD.

"I understand your appetite to understand the price, but all I will say to you again, is that we will offer great value,” Lewis said in response to the rumours. “We need to do that in particular to this audience that we are aspiring to appeal to and we know that we have to resonate well there. And our track record over the past ten years – I hope has proven to people that we have an appetite to remain competitive. I mean, we have to."

"Understand the price?" Right now, we just want to know the damned thing.

It will be interesting to see Kinect's final price, now that Sony has announced firm pricing for its PlayStation Move controllers.

What a rip off.. so much for the $50 figure that was floating around last year.. will not be buying this for sure. Add on top $60 for the games.. you must be mad to consider buying this.

I wouldn't buy this unless my life depended on it, and right now I'm pretty sure it doesn't. If you know otherwise, please don't tell me - I don't need the pressure! As the old saying goes - better to eat cold chips than to chip colds eat. She's not wrong.

Yeah, well, For existing xbox users, it can give you a break from the delirious players of Modern Warfare 2 (Yes hackers, we're looking at you). It also gives us an opportunity to actually feel like we're doing the activity. If Microsoft do this right, it should blow away the competition (ie. the Wii) (The PS Move doesn't count as it looks awful!)

Aaarrrgh, I just hope that gaming does not go along this disturbing route like the Wii did(my Wii only gathers dust). Microsofts press conference said this was the way all computing will be done including games, away from traditional gaming leaving their hardcore base, just to try and make money from people who don't care about gaming(lets jump up and down in front of the games console like brain dead cabbages). I just hope this is press conference media hype and not a Wii style gaming dystopian future.

$49 dollars, $149 is a bit steep for a system designed to sell systems and games. Can anybody tell me, if the software is now all running on the xbox, what is the difference between a Kinect and $20 webcams. You realize, I was thinking over buying into the 360.

How does the Move look awful? To me it looks like the Wii done right.
