Rumour: PS3 Cross-Game Voice Chat In Firmware 3.40
Sony revealed a lot in its E3 press conference, but the one thing many people wanted to hear was an implementation of cross-game voice chat - something the Xbox 360 has enjoyed for years now. Sony didn't mention it. Instead, it appeared to have saved it for a mention on its official website.

According to a screengrab and first-hand accounts at The Gamer Access, press releases discussing the announced PlayStation Plus subscription service revealed that a new PS3 firmware update - version 3.40 - would be released on the 29th June to coincide with the new feature.

A little more digging revealed a bullet point on Sony's official Netherlands webpage, that reads; "Cross-game Voice Chat: invite your friends to chat online no matter what game you're all playing, even if they aren't members of PlayStation Plus." All mention of the functionality was removed from the site shortly after.

Cue a hundred people claiming 'fake' and 'image shoop'. True or not, it would seem odd for Sony to omit such a planned firmware feature from its stage last night. What do you reckon, readers? Legit or Quit?
