Rumours of a subscription service for the PlayStation Network have ended up becoming true, as SCEA CEO Jack Tretton revealed an optional service that aims to offer exclusive digital content, discounts and other bonuses to PS3 users.
It's called PlayStation Plus, and will "offer hundreds of dollars worth of value," apparently. Such value includes early demos, priority beta invites, full PSN games, automatic downloads for patches and firmware and discounts to content on the PlayStation Store.
The service will cost you $49.99 USD for an annual subscription, or you can pay $17.99 USD every three months. Once you pop, you won't be able to stop however - you will only benefit from PlayStation Plus content for the duration of your subscription. Hmmm.
