The quieter, bigger-HD'd and faster WiFi'd Xbox 360 slim (well, little) we mentioned this morning has indeed come to pass. And it'll be out this week for the same price as the older, louder, slower 360.
The unit was confirmed this evening at the Microsoft press briefing in Los Angeles, as was the price: $299 for the new unit. Although the European launch has been confirmed as July 16th. The price is apparently £199 in UK, €249 in mainland Europe.
Don Mattrick lifted an old, white Xbox 360 from a table to reveal the smaller and - he promised "whisper quiet" - unit that will be "shipping to retail this week". Those journalists attending to event, including SPOnG's own Joe Chagan (@SPOnG_Lupos on Twitter), received a unit there and then.
The new Xbox 360 comes with a 250Gb hard drive and 802.11.n wiifi as opposed to the Elite 120Gb drive and no wireless built-in.
It was a highly upbeat end to an otherwise underwhelming press briefing. Full details on that as soon as Joe gets out of the venue.
