Battlestar Galactica Composer Scoring SOCOM 4
Composer Bear McCreary is in charge of the soundtrack to the upcoming PS3-exclusive squad game, SOCOM 4. And he will be granting an audience of contest winners to sit in while he conducts his final recording session for the project.

The musician, who has previously worked on Dark Void and Dark Void Zero, says that his latest work will be a score "like no other. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamt of a video game score that would feel as if it were being composed specifically for each player, adapting and shifting perfectly to capture the mood of the individual gamer.

"Thanks to the powerful technology available today, and the talented artists and programmers at Sony and Zipper, I was able to write a score that fulfills this promise." Musically, McCreary calls the music a "franchise reboot" - using instruments and percussion from each environment to provide the atmosphere that accompanies the action.

"You won’t hear patriotic soaring horn lines, or military marches," McCreary added. "I matched a full orchestra with Asian instrumentation, ethnic soloists, and a gamelan ensemble, producing over eight hours of original music." His score, which has been in production for two years, will be revealed over time leading to the game's release.
