Okay, US-based companies, we get the idea that attempting to tie anything to the World Cup (of soccer) is probably a good PR tactic. But don't do it like these guys from Activision have.
Following a long-winded intro to the fact that ageing rockers Stone Temple Pilots are bringing their latest works to Guitar Hero, we are informed:
"To celebrate the kick off of the big soccer match, the most widely viewed sporting event in the world, Steve Ouimette returns to the Guitar Hero stage with a collection of rock-inspired national anthems recorded exclusively for the Guitar Hero music library.
"Beginning June 8, gamers can download the exclusive National Anthem Track Pack for free... The track pack includes God Save the Queen, Il Canto degli Italiani, La Marseillaise, Lied der Deutschen, Marcha Real and The Star-Spangled Banner."
Okay, first of all, it's the "Big Soccer Kicking Tournament" and second of all, there are 32 teams not six. We can only hope they've got the proper version of God Save the Queen... the one by The Sex Pistols.
For some reason, we're also told that Alice Cooper tracks will hit on June 15, and 'pop punk' band, All Time Low Track Pack will be available on June 22.
Now pricing: The Stone Temple Pilots, Alice Cooper, and All Time Low track packs cost 440 Microsoft Points or $5.49 or 550 Wii Points(TM). The National Anthems pack is free.
