Nintendo Consoles In Japanese Schools By April
Shigeru Miyamoto is working on bringing Nintendo consoles into the classroom, in the form of educational tools and learning aids. The legendary game designer revealed that "is the area where I am devoting myself [the] most" in a recent interview.

Nintendo's DS handheld is already being used in museums and galleries in Japan to provide portable information on exhibits using bespoke software. It is likely that schools and colleges will be introduced to the device in a similar way.

The plan is part of an initiative to broaden the audience for computer gaming further - Nintendo has already enjoyed great success in reaching out to non-gamers with the Wii console. The move into education is not a surprising one - the DS has been used as a portable teaching tool before, with the release of Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training exercises and other puzzle games.

Elementary and high schools across Japan will see the DS introduced at the start of the new school year, which would be April.
