Sony's Dille More Than 10 Years for PS3
Sony's Senior Vice President, Marketing and Peter Dille, has been hitting softball questions out of the proverbial park for fun recently. One gem, from interviewer Matt Casamassina, should be a used as a tutorial by all senior execs:

Asked "So you do think that PS3 will overtake Xbox 360 in sales at some point, then?" Dille responds:

"Yeah, we do. I'm confident we'll be around in 10 years and I can say that because we've done it twice. PS3 will be around in 10 years and probably much longer than that. I have my own opinion, but I'll ask you the question. Do you think the 360 will be around in 10 years?"

Dille then goes on to chuck some numbers in, "Yeah, and that's my personal opinion. I think that would be the personal opinion of most responsible opinion makers. We can be passionate fans, but I don't think they'll be around in 10 years so I'm very confident we'll pass them within that time frame. I mean, we've got 31 million [units sold] worldwide right now -- they've got 39 million [units sold].

"I don't even need to go out 10 years. I'm not going to make any predictions for your interview today other than we'll pass them, but you look at where we are today and where they are today, and they had an opportunity to sprint as far ahead of us as possible when they had the head start. Well, we're breathing down their necks and they can see us in the rearview mirror and it's not going to take too long to pass them."

More corporate softball over here.

Senior Vice President of Marketing? He can barely put together a coherent train of thought by the sound of it. I guess that explains a few things.

PS3 won't overtake the 360 system, even tho they are close to the number of units sold by Microsoft. But the number of games, features, and of course, Project Natal, these will help to boost the 360 sales even more. People think that the PS3 is perfect but its not. I have had several mates that have had problems with their hard drive and disk drives, and Sony charge them just to fix it, where has Microsoft fixes any issues for free, and they have all reverted to the 360 and they prefer it. So Sony, im afraid, you will not win the race against Microsoft.
