A Japanese newspaper that quoted Satoru Iwata's comments of a Nintendo DS successor has denied claims by Nintendo of America that it had “misinterpreted” interview responses.Last week, the Nintendo President was interviewed by the Asahi Shimbun and
discussed the future of its popular handheld. Iwata suggested that the next advance in any successor to a Nintendo DS would be motion control.
Nintendo of America
quickly disputed the article, stating that Iwata said nothing at all on the subject, and that the newspaper had “misinterpreted” a different answer. A response from the Asahi Shimbun to
Kotaku reads; “The article quoted Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's comment accurately.”
All very exciting isn't it? Nothing like a bit of drama on a Friday lunchtime. We wonder if Nintendo is going to take this further – at which point, given the stance of the newspaper, things could get ugly.
