Sony’s PlayStation 3 has sold over 4 million units in Japan since its launch on 11th November 2006, according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain. Well, 4,020,563 units if you want to be precise. In December last year, sales stood at only 2.6 million units. PS3 sales during 2009 benefited from a combination of price cutting and the release of the PS3 Slim. However, Sony's console still has a lot of catching up to do in order to match the Wii’s lifetime sales in the country. Nintendo's unit amassed 9,048,012 units since 2nd December 2006. Wii sales stood at 7.5 million at the same time last year.
Now that
Final Fantasy XIII has landed, we wonder how much higher PS3 sales will climb come next December.
