Atari's CEO, David Gardner, has been replaced in his role by Jeff Lapin, currently Chief Operations Officer at the company. This makes Lapin Atari’s fourth CEO in three years. This move comes seven months after former Sony man, Phil Harrison
stepped down as president of the company formerly known as Infogrames due to a "shift of business operations to the US."
Like Harrison following his move, Gardner will remain on the board of directors.
Lapin is of course, "excited" (“I am excited to take on these new responsibilities at this important time and look forward to developing Atari’s strategy to bring the company back to profitability") but he once again calls up the move to the USA as a reason for the shuffle. "It has been a challenging time, which resulted in a new publishing strategy with a strong online focus and a shift of the operations to the US."
