Sony has, rightfully, being trumpeting about the fact that PS3 sales in the USA were up by 70% in the month of October. The US
PS Blog states, "Last month, U.S. sales for the PS3 grew nearly 70 percent over last year, making it the only console to experience significant growth year over year."
This is good for PS3 and Sony, and goes head-to-head with Microsoft, which talked up its European figures earlier this week
saying that Xbox 360 "remains the only console showing positive year-on-year growth in 2009 so far, both across EMEA as a whole and in each of the 5 main markets within the region (UK, FR, DE, ES, IT) – Microsoft estimates based on Gfk ChartTrack data."
Sony continues its own extolling of USA PS3 with, "October also marked the highest month of revenue on record for the PlayStation Store, with downloads increasing 60 percent over October 2008.
"To date, more than 650 million pieces of content have been downloaded worldwide from PlayStation Store. Currently, there are more than 31 million registered PlayStation Network accounts worldwide."
As will all percentage rise figures though, you have to ask the question "From a base of what?" Anyway, the Xmas race hots up.
