With
Sony's financials out in the wild, we've got the latest total for the PS3's worldwide install base.
That total is 27 million as of September 30th. In comparison,
31 million Xbox 360s had been sold worldwide by August 27th and at the end of September there were
56.14 million Wiis around the world.
Unsurprisingly, PS3 sales nearly tripled from this year's first quarter (ending June 30th) to the second (ending September 30th), going from 1.1 million to 3.2 million thanks to the price cut and launch of the Slim.
PSP sales were also up - from 1.3 million to 3 million. PS2 sales scraped up a little from 1.6 million to 1.9 million.
Sony's unit sales predictions for the full year remain steady from July. The company expects to sell 13 million PS3s, 15 million PSPs and 5 million PS2s. That would put installed PS3 at over 35 million come the end of the company's financial year. You can see Sony's numbers
