Microsoft's group manager of corporate PR ('PR man') David Dennis has played down Michael Pachter's recent statement
that the company is looking to double Xbox Live membership fees.
Says Mr Dennis to Matt Peckham
at PC World, "I don't foresee a scenario where we're going to double the price of LIVE any time in the next couple (of) months".
Dennis also takes the chance to point out that "The 360's clearly a powerful piece of hardware that can hold its own against anyone", before pointing out that the Microsoft console might not be selling as well as a few months ago, is still high on the revenue stakes.
"(Attach Rates are) 4.1 for us, 2.2 for PS3, and 3.4 for the Wii. That mirrors software too. We typically have a very high attach rate, which--getting back to total dollars spent--shows the high level of consumer engagement with the platform. They don't just buy it once with the pack-in game, then sit around and not use it. They're out actively spending, which is great for the industry."
