Swastika Forces Wolfenstein Withdrawal
Apparently, if you don't allow the Nazi swastika to be seen it means that it doesn't exist. That's the theory in Germany anyway. Activision knows this, which is why it's removed all such symbols from WWII, Nazi-killing game, Wolfenstein.

All but one. This has lead to the company stating: "..although it is not a conspicuous element in the normal game ... we have decided to take this game immediately from the German market."

That's a relief and will definitely put an end to the rise of the extreme right-wing in that country.

Seriously? They've pulled a game based on WW2 because there is a swastika in there somewhere?

Time for my trip to Dignitas, I think. I really don't want to be in this world any more.

@irritant It's the German law

The ban on endorsing Nazism or displaying swastikas outside of a historical context applies to all titles. To avoid legal issues, many developers remove the reference to swastikas altogether, replacing it with the symbol of the 3rd Reich's Army, a version of the Iron Cross. On the other hand, it is permitted to feature a function in which one can assume the role of the German army in World War II as in games such as Sudden Strike and Axis & Allies, although this is a subject of controversy.

I dunno if Wolfenstein could rgue for a "historical context" - there's far too many fantastical elements to it.
