Sony has today refused to comment on exactly how many units of the PS3 Slim have been sold in the UK in its first week. A representative responded back to SPOnG's calls with
"No sorry we aren't commenting on PS3 slim sales."The reason we ask is because it's just getting so darn confusing trying to nail down a solid number, with
MCV playing the Guessing Game in an attempt to thwart Chart Track's silence on the matter. A number of 40,000 was decided by the trade website after taking the first-week sales of the PS2 Slim (which was reportedly 50,000 according to an age-old
BBC report) and concluding that the PS3 Slim apparently sold 20 per cent less than this number.
What is less confusing than trying to figure all this out is just how impressive the PS3 Slimpact has been in general, with a
1000 per cent sales boost in the UK since the 1st September. And with the run up to Christmas featuring a fair few Sony exclusives, the Winter period could be a good time for the PS3 to make some headway in the tussle with the Xbox 360.
