Sony Only has a Go at Innocent Bloggers Outrage!
Oh yes, SCEA has decided to bring down its iron, corporate boot on innocent, well-meaning games news and blogging sites in its latest so-called 'TV advert' for the PS3 Slim in the States. The ad features a fat, beardie individual called 'Bernie Buncalan - Rumor (sic) Monger', demanding an actual confirmation or denial regarding pricing on the PS3 Slim from Sony's 'Director of Rumor (sic again) Confirmation' Kevin Butler. Kevin, of course, won't comment.

Anyway, watch the damn thing yourself below (once it loads)... it's actually quite humorous, if you're a huge, evil corporation and not a sweet, innocent, fair-minded 'journalist' with a sense of self-deprecatory humour that is. Bah!

Now if, SCEA can get Peter Dille, Senior Vice President, Marketing & PlayStation Network, to appear in another advert saying something packed with corporate nonsense such as "These new ads, created by our partners at Deutsch LA, birthed a new campaign in which we will have direct conversations with consumers about everything the PS3 can do" then the cycle of humour would be complete. What, he actually does say that? But for real?

In case you somehow over-looked it, earlier this week we showed you the entirely humour-free European advert.

Oh, there's also another ad featuring the girlfriend of some guy who... anyway, you can watch that too.

Sony are going further and further into SEGA Saturn teritory now and its funny, the console they destroyed is coming back to haunt them in a form of their own console. And you know whats creepy, The Saturn was SEGA's third world wide console, the PS3 is Sony's third world wide console...

Why must these ads always be so high concept?

They should go for the subliminal TV message idea instead. Keep it short, sweet and simple

I'm surprised they haven't used old ideas.

Oh let them have their fun. The ads are humorous and you need to not be so bitter about it. They are mostly poking fun at themselves too, seeing as they are the one company that can't keep anything secret (even if they wanted too) and have a problem with getting everyone with a PS3 on the PSN.

Yeah, we were being ironic. Not so good now we're in a post-ironic Zeitgeist going forward 24/7. That was more irony.

Cheers
