This morning's Lionhead/Microsoft press briefing at Gamecom in Cologne saw the ever-impressive showmanship of the former's Peter Molyneux showing off
Fable III. And that was that.
It had been widely anticipated that Microsoft would also reveal a set of price and SKU changes to its Xbox 360 range. The biggest bets were on the death of the Pro, a price cut to the Elite and a price rise of bundle change to the hard disk-free, family-friendly Arcade edition.
MCV has apparently been informed "by a national electronics retailer that Microsoft was considering delaying the announcement of its price cut whilst it waits for unusually high stock levels of both the Arcade and Elite to clear from the channel."
Of course, price cutting and SKU changing this far from 'the holidays' could be considered a tactical error, given that by November the PS3 Slim(mer) buzz may have calmed somewhat.
