Sony on the WipeOut HD Ad Removal Decision
Sony has confirmed to SPOnG that in-game and loading advertising that had been introduced to Wipeout HD - and which slowed down the game's loading speeds - have been removed. However, once a form of advertising can be integrated correctly, it will return.

"Yes the ad has been removed and we are investigating the situation to ensure that any in-game advertising does not affect gameplay", was exactly what we were told.

We asked when the decision was made and the SCEE spokesperson told us that the speed lag "was only flagged up late last night...it (the decision) happened relatively fast". Frankly in the current video game climate, an overnight decision is light-speed fast.

We also asked for clarification as to whether the in-game advertising will return to Wipeout HD if it doesn't affect gameplay. We were told in a very straightforward manner, "Yes, I believe so".

So, not only some rapid decision making, but also a refreshing dose of candour.

I think it's more like, we like it when companies are straight with us instead of giving us the same old manufactured line to farm out whenever journos ask a question.

That and Sony removed intrusive ads from one of their best online titles. What's there not to like about that decision?

The whole this is out of order . The game makers are getting rev from the ad's third party ad's and we the end user still have to shell out £40 for a game. Then updates and extra DLC content - DLC content should be FREE FOR LIFE OF THE GAME. Also should have a option to show ad's.

Remove all Ad's - let the game run like it should...

@Bully_Dosanjh
The game is not "£40"...it is £13.99.
