Hero of the week declared?

Infinity Ward - Never Charging for Modern Warfare
Infinity Ward community manager, the really rather excellent Robert Bowling (aka 'Fourzerotwo') has gone and done one of those things that corporate gaming types don't do. He's made a statement of fact that applies to the future.

His statement regards a Destructoid-fuelled rumour that charges were to be brought in for online play for the Call of Duty series:

"This rumor has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2. We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don't worry.

"Multiplayer will always be equal and free for everyone as always."

We expect exploding heads a la Scanners among Activision executives sitting around board room tables at the mere thought of somebody not using the phrase "Modern Warfare 2 experience" or "going forward"; deaths will occur due to the use of the phrase, "equal and free for everyone as always"...

This is not to say, of course, that Activision itself won't override the developer and introduce charges and/or micro-transactions in future.

Plain Speaking Hero of the week the, FourZeroTwo!
