SpaceWorld promises new GameCube titles
Nintendo of Japan has announced that its SpaceWorld event will be held on August 25 and 26 at Makuhari Messe in Japan.

SpaceWorld is Nintendo’s annual games show and the event the company has used over the years to showcase its new and upcoming hardware and software.

The company has promised that SpaceWorld 2001 will see the unveiling of what has been described as “several new and unexpected GameCube titles as well as some previously announced games.”

You can expect to see Mario for GameCube and Zelda, all in playable form, as well as Metroid and possibly even a new Mario Kart game.

Miyamoto has hinted that Mario is not too far away: “I've been thinking that this Summer I might be able to show you something of Mario,” said the Japanese legend. “Actually when I said that Mario needs to grow up, what I was thinking of was that the design needs to change. I think it was appealing too much to a younger age group and really I'd like to see him as the kind of character that appeals to a very wide range of ages. So that's really what I meant and I'm planning this Summer to hopefully show something of Mario.”

It is possible that Nintendo will want to save one surprise for the Nintendo Europe show that takes place later this year in Europe.
