Sony Computer Entertainment president, Kaz Hirai has been answering questions regarding all things PlayStation. Included along the way were such gems as:
PSP Go vs PSP 3000: "We're not trying lasso people into the Go, it's all about giving a choice. The PSP 3000 is still key for us", and for retail.
PS3 Launch: "Given the circumstances that we had we needed to make some tough decisions. Looking back if we could have done it again we probably would have not gone for the simultaneous worldwide launch." We would also have preferred not to have had to wait on a promise.
Hardware: "We've always been less about the hardware and more about what people can do with it." Our brains are boggling on this one because we can't translate it so that it makes actual sense. Surely ensuring good hardware also enables people to use it?
PSP Go Flash Memory: "The Go has 16mb flash and you can store around 8-10 games on it, maybe more",
actually it's 16Gb, but that could be a
Guardian misprint.
iPhone Games vs PSP Games: "Games are all called 'games' but the ones on the app store are not comparable to the ones on PSP." He's talking size not sales.
Blu-ray in the PS3: "Purely from a gaming standpoint there was no other choice for us." And there was us thinking it was purely from being told by Sony Corporate that PS3 had to ship with Blu-ray. Live and learn.
