It's that fallow time before a major conference/expo in which wishlists become rumours and rumours - by force of wish - become facts: yes, it's the Pre-E3 Sense of Rumour. First up is the PS3 Redesign.
PlayStationlifestyle shoots this one into the air as follows: "We didn’t get any specifics, but we speculate that it could be one of a couple different options.
"First off, it very well could be as simple as a white or a silver PS3, to go with the white and silver Dualshock 3’s that have been made available."
So, it's possible that there's going to be the new controllers in different colours. This might suggest the colour range to be extended to the console itself... But that's way too dull. So, "The other option, and the one we are leaning toward is a slimmed down, model. Maybe with some updated specs. Nothing major of course as to not alienate current PS3 owners..."
A slimmed-down model with updated specs that wouldn't alienate current owners?
Gamecentral is even more certain... "Sony is planning, in addition to the PlayStation Portable Go a hardware redesign to announce the upcoming E3."
G4TV takes a different angle on the PlayStationLifestyle tale: "...it could be a new PlayStation 2 or something else entirely."
All excellent stuff. So, based on the above information - and remember, you read it here first - we're speculating that it's going to be Xbox-compatibility for the PS2 via a dongle!
More 'Pre-E3 Sense of Rumour'... we're sure.
