Wii-Mote for the PS3 FUD?

Another E3 announcement apparently

Wii-Mote for the PS3 FUD?
E3 in Los Angeles next month is apparently going to be the venue for Sony to announce a Wii-Mote-like controller for the PS3 if a report on Variety is to be believed.

Apparently, "A good source saw a working prototype several months ago". The prototype in question refers to a patent that was filed with the US Patent Office in 2006 for a 'DETECTABLE AND TRACKABLE HAND-HELD CONTROLLER'.

The device uses a small camera to detect coloured light sources which, apparently, makes it more accurate than the Wii Remote controller.

Despite Variety's headline, "Sony's motion sensing controller for PS3 to be unveiled at E3", however, the piece contains that following, "I'm not sure when the device will be unveiled (later this year or mid-next year, I'd think given the E3 timing) or what software will initially be available."

So, we're slapping this one under "Patent seen from 2006...erm, that's it"

So the clapped out console is finally getting one of those really old wireless motion controllers, pity they could not have done that yeas ago, or reduce it to the same price.

A camera do you say, lol, I suppose somebody will hack it and remotely take pictures from others controllers, when they put it in there lap. Pity the rest of the gaming network if you guys stick it down your pants and are not female. Also would be interesting if your partner comes up and wants to have sex with you while you are playing, I don't know, no privacy what is the world coming to.

@hi
you mean like the motion controller it allready has?

or do you mean a flakey jittery pointing device that relys on a rubbish set-top sensor bar?

How many PS3 owners actually use the six axis feature? It was a nice gimmick to start with but I decided to use convetional methods.

Motion control suits the Wii because of the type of console it is and the market its in as well.

@SuperSaiyan4
same could be said for a lot of wii game. the gimicky controls only work when the gameis built with the control in mind and its a fail when its slapped on the at the end.

flower and super rubadub (which has been updated!) are both great 6axis based games - because they were designed with it in mind
