Big Blue Box Manager hits out at impossible game claims

"We will temper our ideas of freedom with our experience"

Following the unveiling of the Xbox title Project Ego at E3, Big Blue Box developers have been met with a certain amount of scepticism, following their claims that the game would be “entirely and organically evolving.”

Co-owner and Managing Director of the company Dene Carter has hit out in favour of the company. Big Blue Box can make such a claim when creating this type of game, if it wishes to do so. Their credibility is not an issue. BBB is a breakaway Lionhead company that is still fully supported by Lionhead and legends such as Peter Molyneux and Steve Jackson.

In an article on Lionhead’s forum, Carter said: "I've heard a lot of comments from various disillusioned sources regarding our game and the fact that it's 'Too good to be true'. I'd like to give a little background which may help some of you understand our development cycle a bit better. Our core game idea is simply to allow the player to 'evolve' his own unique character, and to ensure that nearly all decisions and actions he takes have some effect on the world, its opinions and even its physical make up. Although there is a core story running through the game we aim to give as much freedom as we possibly can.

"We will temper our ideas of freedom with our experience, ensuring we make things as fun as possible. Regardless of how 'logical' a certain feature would be, if we don't think it's fun it's not going in. We watch these boards to see what other questions people ask, to see which ideas people are most passionate about, and hopefully answer many of these with 'Yes' in the future."
