Nintendo has confirmed to SPOnG that 600,000 DSi units have actually been sold to customers in the West.
"300K - US
300K - Eur
600K - TOTAL"
Is the message we received today - confirming what Ninty president, Saturo Iwata is quoted as having mentioned as a figure this week.
So, the split is 50/50 between the two territories, with the handheld having launched last Friday over here and on Sunday in America. Nintendo confirmed to SPOnG that the figure is for DSis sold to gamers, rather than sold in to retailers.
"These early launch results supplant the launch sales of the previous versions of the Nintendo DS", Iwata said.
This follows the news that the
DSi sold 92,000 units over its launch weekend in the UK alone.
It's just as well that the DSi is performing well - Iwata also acknowledged that the
Wii is suffering in Japan.
