Sony Confirms no PS3 Price Cut... Again
Yasuda Tetsuhiko, president of SCE Asia and Hong Kong has once again confirmed that Sony has no plans to cut the price of the PlayStation 3.

Speaking in a press briefing this week he is quoted by Cnet Asia as saying that "the company has no intention to revise the console's pricing at the moment".

This follows a Nintendo briefing by its president, Saturo Iwata, that Nintendo doesn't see the Wii has a cheap product, and despite the current downturn in its fortunes in Japan, there will be no price cut for the console.

Damn them and their infernal "not giving in to the 'ps3 price cut or die' astroturf brigade". How many "would never buy a ps3 anyway" voices does it take for Sony to get with the programme? Eh?

Will somebody pls tell Yasuda Tetsuhiko that unless the PS3 comes down to a price close to if not the same as an XBox Elite, I won't be buying one then.

Gimme a shout when he changes his mind...

Pretty sure that Astroturf is real grass roots.

OMG people you're so stupid! Sony could have plans to cut PS3 within a month but they still wouldn't say it TODAY, because then that would hurt sales even more! God you're all dumbasses

We KNOW that, our article on PS3 price cuts, and many of our news stories allude to that.

But constantly and consistently denying that you intend to cut price makes it less likely that you will, since your credibility will be dented if you do. The traditional approach is to "neither confirm nor deny" in the run up to a price cut.

As for hurting sales... they are already hurting enough as it is. A price cut is needed.

Why do these 'stories' keep getting published? Can't a week go by without a 'Sony are not cutting the PS3 price' story sweeping across the internet? We know they are not and we know almost everyone wants them to, but if Sony don't change their story, then there is no news.

Can't we just wait for the day when Sony actually DO announce a price cut?
