In a week where the Internet was certain there would be a a PS3 price cut - even though it turned into a PS2 price cut - Sony has announced the details of update 2.7 for the PlayStation 3.
Now, some reports had stated that this would see voice chat and cross-game chat - it doesn't. Then again, Sony never said it would.
According to the official line, here is what it does contain:
- Text chat in multiple (three) 'chat rooms'.
- The ability to export purchased video to external media.
- Friends list on the XMB with additional sorting features.
The video below shows 'some of the features'. Teasingly while exhibiting the text chat function, an icon for "Audio/Video Chat" is also prominent. It is, however, not demonstrated or detailed.
