Activision Blizzard has given itself a big ol' pat on the back for the performance of its
Call of Duty: World at War DLC. The ingeniously-named Map Pack 1 exceeded a million downloads during its first weekend of availability.
To be absolutely clear, that's over a million downloads split between the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live over the period March 19th-22nd.
"I'm proud that the team at Treyarch delivered an experience that so many people are enjoying", said Mark Lamia, studio head at Treyarch. "We're excited that the success of
Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will continue to drive the popularity of the game's Nazi Zombie mode, competitive multiplayer and chart-breaking success online."
Meanwhile, the next game in the
Call of Duty franchise,
Modern Warfare 2 (at least we think it's still in the franchise - it's had the '
Call of Duty' bit dropped from the name) has been given a release date. It's
out on November 10th.
