Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata, is set to deliver a keynote at this year's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
The keynote is scheduled for March 25th between 9 and 10am local time (4-5pm UK time). The presentation is titled 'Discovering New Development Opportunities'. Beyond that, no detail has been given.
Iwata last spoke at GDC in 2006 about 'disruptive development', discussing how developers can attract new consumers and surprise existing gamers. He also stated that a then-new
Zelda game -
Phantom Hourglass - was
well underway for the DS.
We can hope against hope that there will be an announcement of one of the
Mario or
Zelda games
known to be in development. Don't hold your breath, though. Shigeru Miyamoto, the brain stem of Nintendo's first-party development efforts, recently said that he was unsure whether the company
will even be ready to announce those games at E3 this summer - never mind in March.
