Europe: No Amazon Xbox Live Price Cut

Rumour has it that the US cut heralds free Xbox Live.

Europe: No Amazon Xbox Live Price Cut
Amazon in the USA has sliced 40% off the price of the Xbox 360 Live 12 Month Gold Card plus one month card bringing it down to $29.97 (£20.60).

Amazon in the United Kingdom has not.

The US price cut has already lead to one media outlet asking, "Temporary one-off vendor sale? Or harbinger of an official Microsoft price drop?"

Although it's obvious that this is a single retailer moving some stock on following the Xmas rush (which saw the Xbox 360 selling very well State-side), we've put the question of an official price cut to Microsoft. We'll report back as soon as we hear.

I think so not sure actually only one way to find out, however amazon.com from what I know will not post to UK.

Unless you have a friend in the USA who can send you a code then trying it if it comes up as valid then that shows it works I guess.

Its a shame we are still charged around £32.99 from online retailers but better than £39.99.

ebay not sure if they still sell them but I was able to get 12+1 month codes for £26 or so, they could have been USA codes?

Well, I have to tell you, you are a real mug if you pay £40 for them. I hunt online and find them for £20-25. No surprise, we still get stung on things like this in the U.K.

I've always said £40 is a bit too steep for them, but considering what I get from Live I tend to over look it.

Oh, MS, if only you'd make Live free.

I have only ever paid £40 for live once and that was when I got my very first starter pack on the Xbox 1 when it used to be better cos you got a headset with it at least.
But ever since I have found ways (legal ways) to get Live cheap like when its on in the sale back in the old days at GAME you could sometimes get Live for like £19.98 in the sale. Or go on ebay and get the codes cheap.

I think now Live has a substantial arcade game and expansion pack market, its profitable to run without the charge. Im sure if Microsoft dropped it they would save on admin costs whilst making more money from encouraging people online. Before I agreed with it because the service justified the cost. Now I think it would be a good loss leader for them to make it free.
