High Street retailer - and former Virgin - Zavvi is apparently
* upping the video game price cutting ante with the following prices for Xbox 360 SKUs until December 24th:
- Xbox 360 Arcade to cost £99.99.
- Xbox 360 Premium 360 to cost £149.99.
- Xbox 360 Elite to cost £199.99
Also, for good measure, it's selling the PlayStation 3 for £269.99 as opposed to £299.99
This all sounds rather jolly. However, with the Zavvi website still unable to actually sell anything at the moment - and not showing any prices for products, including games - this offer is in-store only. Let's compare to HMV, Toys 'R' Us, Game and Gamestation:
HMV:- Arcade costs £127.22
- Premium costs £166.37
- Elite costs £225.10
ToysRUs:All prices include
PGR4 and
SEGA Superstars Tennis , ToysRUs value £58.68.
- Arcade costs £137.01
- Premium costs £176.16
- Elite costs £234.88
Game:All prices include a single game option with a Game value of up to £27.40
- Arcade costs £128.49
- Premium costs £188.49
- Elite costs £248.49
GameStation:- Arcade costs £128.49 with
Mirror's Edge, GameStation value of £39.14
- Premium costs costs £166.37 with
Kung Fu Panda,
LEGO Indiana Jones,
Lost and an Extra Wireless Controller, GameStation value £86.08.
- Elite costs £228.49 with a choice of single game such as
Fallout 3 or
Mirror's Edge, GameStation value up to £39.14
Frankly, the one hard piece of information for the Xmas shopper right now is, therefore, shop around. We would also suggest that you haggle the hell out of your local shopkeeper when it comes to PS3 pricing. In terms of Wii - we've not heard tales of shortages as occurred last year.
