So, Nintendo's President, Satoru Iwata, wants a DS for
every person in the world, but how can this be achieved when it's only just available in Japan - and even there people are having
'interesting times' pre-ordering?
Well, Iwata-san has hinted at a European (and the rest of the world) release date. Speaking at a press conference in Japan, he said, "Specific (release) plans will be unveiled by our local subsidiaries, but an autumn or year-end launch would probably be too late".
This has been taken by many outlets to mean, "Summer 2009". We, however, reckon that Easter 2009 would be a more appropriate time. It is, after all, the second biggest sales period after Xmas.
Nintendo could, despite Iwata's bullishness, benefit from a homeland boost for the DS when it launches this weekend.
Currently Sony's PSP is beating it in sales.
