USA to Get Xbox 360 Arcade to Pro Bridging Pack
Microsoft in the USA - we've had no response yet from the UK office - is to release an add-on pack aimed at Xbox 360 Arcade owners. Well, Microsoft isn't saying that, we are. The Xbox Live Pack contains:

* A 60GB hard drive.
* A wired headset.
* An Ethernet cable
* A a three month Live Gold subscription.

The price is a $99 (£60.50) - some sources add another dollar to this price, we are awaiting clarification.

According to Microsoft's latest UK price cuts (September), the Arcade's RRP is £129.99, while the 60Gb Premium costs £169.99. In the USA, however, the 60Gb model costs $299.99 while the Arcade costs $199.99.

So, if you were to have bought your entry level Arcade in the US and let's say you wanted to be ready for the New Xbox Experience (NXE) which requires 128Mb of memory (or you just want a hard disk!), well, you might like to consider a layout of $99 (or $100 depending on who you read) for the Xbox LIVE Pack. It saves you trying to sell your Arcade...

We await news of a UK version.

I think Microsoft should just offer those with a Core / Arcade console a refurb 20gb hard drive for like £15 and be done with it or better yet just get rid of the arcade pack and lower the Premium a bit more and have the Premium and Elite. Although I don't see what is so Elite about an extra 60gb, optical attachment and a black console...

I agree.

There's no point, though, having an upgrade package if it's going to work out cheaper than simply buying a Premium version in the first place, in my opinion.
