Anti-violent video gaming advocate, Christian crusader and lawyer, Jack Thompson's disbarment from the Florida Bar is now final and permanent. See it from the
Florida Florida Bar itself here in case you're still unsure.
Thompson, had a month to challenge the ruling and
threatened an emergency motion to have it over-turned. The ruling passed down from the court means that, as he is not in 'good standing' there was a Catch-22 in any appeal.
The ruling stated, "The filing of a motion for rehearing shall not alter the effective date of this permanent disbarment.
"Consistent with this Court's sanction order, no motion for rehearing will be considered unless signed
by a member in good standing of The Florida Bar other than respondent."
So, Thompson now disappears from the Floridian legal scene. At least he might have work with Republican vice presidential hopeful, Sarah Palin to look forward to. As reported on
Gamepolitics, he has "crucial, constitutional legislation drafted and ready to go", because "The American entertainment industry’s assault upon our children and our values must stop, and you are the person to stop it."
The legislation refers, of course, to "public safety and health hazards posed by the video game industry’s marketing and sale of violent and pornographic Mature-rated video games to minors."
We have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that we'll all be hearing from Mr Thompson again in the very near future. After all, Fox News always needs a video game analyst who knows their stuff -
rather than one who 'mis-speaks'.
