SCEA's marketing manager, Mark Valledor, appears to have been rather caught off guard regarding copies of
LittleBigPlanet released into the wild by major US retailers.
Posting on the
US PlayStation blog, Valledor says, "Looks like our production line churned out new copies quicker than our original schedule, and a few of our retailers did what they could to take care of the fans who pre-ordered ASAP."
While this is good news for the few; the many have been placed in a holding pattern since Sony apparently recalled copies of the game prior to its original release because of
problems with a holy book, some words and some music.
What is a littlebig bit concerning is his use of the words, "Looks like our production line...". It rather makes you wonder who at Sony knew that copies would be reaching retail, if the marketing manager didn't.
Mark finishes his statement with, "...check back here or on the
LittleBigPlanet News Site (really, really) soon for updates on the server and pre-order redemption status."
We are now expecting servers to go online for the game today in the US at least.
