The Xbox LIVE Primetime roll-out that was due to kick off in October has been delayed according to Microsoft management in a recent report. As we write this story, however,
Microsoft's LIVE event calendar has not been updated to show this.
Primetime, which was announced in July, is to be a series of regularly scheduled live online games that players can compete in for cash prizes. The deal was arranged between Microsoft and
Big Brother TV show maker Endemol. You may recall that Endemol is also apparently
teaming up with EA, "to produce a TV/gaming hybrid that will allow virtual participation in game shows."
The reason for the delayed launch, according to a
Forbes report is that it is, "necessary in order to ensure a smooth launch of the system's new user interface (or, if you prefer the terminology of Microsoft's PR department, the 'new Xbox experience'...The Xbox's new dashboard is scheduled to launch Nov. 19."
So, frankly, it doesn't seem to be the end of the world that LIVE would be inclined to ensure that part of its content looks like the rest of the GUI.
Bear in mind that, according to
Microsoft itself, "Xbox LIVE Primetime is available in North America, France, Germany and the UK."
