Sony PSP and PS3 Firmware Updates October 15th with Flash 9
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has made its announcement about the upcoming firmware updates for the PSP and PS3, dishing up a release date in the process. October 15th - tomorrow - is when they'll be available to European users.

Other than that, there's not a vast amount to be added to the information SPOnG passed along yesterday, courtesy of SCEE's American counterparts. Except... there's one little nugget of interest that didn't make it into Sony Computer Entertainment America's announcement. SCEE tells us of the PS3 update, "Flash 9 content becomes supported on the Internet Browser." So there you go...

Other features included in v2.5 for the PS3 are support for Sony's Bluetooth headset and a screen capture tool. For more details, see SPOnG's coverage from yesterday. The PSP update, v5.00, meanwhile, will include direct access to the PlayStation Store from the handheld.

Good how Sony's putting more features into the browser, but I don't surf the internet on my PS3 so that's pretty much useless to me. Though the rest of the updates are cool.

I use the browser a far bit, when my girlfriend is on the PC. So updating it to something a bit less bare bones would be good for me and others who don't have a spare PC handy, or just don't want the hassle of firing up a PC ever time you want to look up something quickly.
