New Nintendo DS Announcement Before TGS?
A respected analyst has given the opinion that Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata, will unveil the new Nintendo DS at a media and investors conference being held in Japan tomorrow.

Bloomberg references Pelham Smithers, Asian equities manager at Pali International. Smithers is widely quoted regarding Japanese technology; cropping up in The Financial Times, The International Herald Tribune and others.

Why an announcement tomorrow? There is Tokyo Game Show that kicks off on October 9th to bear in mind. If Nintendo were to make an announcement as big as the introduction of new hardware so close to the show, it would likely be because news of it has been so heavily rumoured.

Also mentioned by Bloomberg is the possibility that new Wii "accessories" will be announced, but details and sources for that are not mentioned.

It's possible that is an awkwardly-worded reference to a comment by Naoki Fujiwara, chief fund manager at the Shinkin Asset Management Co, based in Tokyo. "Chances are Nintendo will introduce home-made game titles such as a new version of the Wii Sports'', he said. SPOnG would hazard that there's little 'chance' left in the equation, given that Nintendo already announced Wii Sports Resort at E3.

Rumours about new DS hardware, featuring a camera and music playback, started to circulate earlier in the week thanks to Japanese paper, the Nikkei.
