The
recommendation made by Judge Dava Tunis that anti-gaming crusader and Florida lawyer, Jack Thompson, be disbarred for professional misconduct has been put into effect. Yesterday Thompson was given 30 days before the disbarment will take permanent effect.
But Jack's not one to go quietly into the night, oh no. Thompson has filed an emergency motion to have the disbarment overturned.
He has also claimed, "The timing of this disbarment transparently reveals its motivation: This past Friday Thompson filed a federal civil rights action against The Bar, the Supreme Court, and all seven of its Justices. This rush to disbarment is in retribution for the filing of that federal suit. With enemies this foolish, Thompson needs only the loyal friends he has."
Furthermore - "This disbarment is in retaliation, among other things, for Thompson’s Tyndale House book
Out of Harm’s Way, published in 2005, which blew the whistle on the Florida Supreme Court’s earlier efforts in the 1990’s to literally
pathologize his faith-based and successful activism against the American entertainment industry."
Angry response or not, however, this looks bad for Jack.
So, it's going to have to be up to the gaming media and fanboys to band together and save him. After all, where would Batman be without The Joker? Where would Churchill have been without the Nazis? Where else are we The important Media going to find another target as soft as Jack? It's a disaster.
It would seem there's been at least a bit of positive response. According to Kotaku, an anonymous developer has even baked the cake you can see above. Why the dev wishes to remain anonymous, however, is a mystery.
