The PlayStation Blog in the USA has announced a the release of the next PS3 firmware update. This comes prior to the budget range of 'Greatest Hits' (known as 'Platinum' in Europe) PS3 games, which hits the streets on Friday.

According to Sony's Eric Lempel, "Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that a PS3 firmware update (v2.42) is now available for download. This update improves the playback quality of some PlayStation 3 and PlayStation format software."

That's all the information there is - nothing about PlayStation Life, the service that involves links to Youtube and various Google products (maps for example). According to SCEA head, Jack Tretton, this was due on US PS3s at least, by the end of this month.

Spong surely you should understand that with Sony dont expect anything, even if they announce something you know its going to be a looooooooooooooong wait IF it ever comes out. Just sit back and wait...wait...wait...wait...

When Microsoft announces something like they did at E3 its usually big and usually out within the year like the major update, new games and services.

With Sony your still waiting on games they announced a few years back along with HOME which now Sony says fans dont mind waiting wtf??? Of course they dont mind waiting they dont have a choice! In the mean time might as well get an Xbox 360.
